What is the difference between 3D thick heat transfer vinyl and silicone heat transfer vinyl?

1. Material

  • 3D Thick Heat Transfer Vinyl: Usually made from PU or TPU, specially foamed or thickened.

  • Silicone Heat Transfer Vinyl: Made of 100% eco-friendly silicone with high flexibility and rubber-like texture.

2. 3D Effect & Thickness

  • 3D Thick Vinyl: Features a significant thickness (e.g. 500μm–700μm), creating a puffy, raised effect with a soft, bold look.

  • Silicone Vinyl: Offers a more structured, firm 3D effect with clean edges—great for layered or logo designs.

3. Touch & Flexibility

  • 3D Thick Vinyl: Soft, slightly elastic, ideal for larger pattern designs on garments.

  • Silicone Vinyl: Smooth and fine texture, highly elastic, very durable without cracking.

4. Adhesion & Washability

  • 3D Thick Vinyl: Works well on flat fabrics, washable and durable, but not ideal for very stretchy materials.

  • Silicone Vinyl: Excellent adhesion, especially on stretchable fabrics like sportswear, and can withstand over 50 washes without peeling.

5. Application Scenarios

  • 3D Thick Vinyl: Popular in streetwear, kids' clothing, casual fashion, and bold graphic styles.

  • Silicone Vinyl: Ideal for sportswear, premium brand logos, and performance garments.

6. Production Requirements

  • 3D Thick Vinyl: Requires cutting and weeding, heat press at medium temp (around 150–160°C), short pressing time.

  • Silicone Vinyl: Often comes in pre-cut sheets, not suitable for desktop cutters, requires higher temperature (160–170°C) and firm pressure.

📌 Summary

  • Want a puffy, soft 3D effect and easy cutting? Go with 3D Thick Heat Transfer Vinyl.

  • Want a premium, durable logo look with excellent stretch? Choose Silicone Heat Transfer Vinyl.
